Production Blog - Finally Filming

During my spring break I found myself with a lot of free time. With my free time, I chose to start and finish filming. I didn't end of going to a gym basketball court. So, I worked with what I got. And I believe that my "basketball court" did the job. With the help of editing, I believe everything will be fine. My costumes came in and worked out perfectly. The jerseys were a little big but they were alright. I found filming fun with my siblings. Some would say that producing and directing a movie is stressful. But I enjoyed it. Yes there were many bloopers before we took the final shots. However, instead of thinking they were bloopers. We thought of them as practice shots.  When preparing and actually filming, it was a process. Yet as the director I set the scenes and directed the actors and camera the way I felt was right. While everyone was doing their lines; I was the camera man. I provided the angles, shots, and movements that I wanted the viewers to see. I still fee...

Production Blog - Background music

There are many different common sounds for the genre: action. Sound plays a major role because it sets the tone for the audience to know what is accepted next. Like the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, or resolution. The different common sounds I believe are "dun-dun-dunnn".  For example, in a horror film there are many eerie sounds to get the audience scared and or on edge.  In my film background music is being played. There is music throughout the film. But not when the characters are conversating. To add background music without getting copyrighted. The website I used has a bunch of different types of music. Accordingly to the genre you need. I found a background music I liked but I also found others that I am interested in. I wonder if I want to use one background song for my entire film or multiple. I will figure that out when I end up editing the film. The music selected is a type of rock/punk. And I think it gives the feeling of action. It wasn't...

Production Blog - Costumes

A common mis-en-scene for the genre action is costumes and makeup. Costumes play a major role because with makeup it can transform someone into someone or something totally different. It can bring the character to life. The costume can help set the setting. The two majority costumes that will be used will be basketball jerseys. The commentators will be dressed in suit like outfits. And throughout the film, the camera will cut between each character and their parts. To find these jerseys I will go to Walmart, thrift stores etc. to find the right ones. When I find the right ones it will be great. My commentators already have their outfits ready. I want to and will try to add in another actor. This actor will play as the referee. Their costume will be black pants and a white and black checkered shirt. I don't know where I am going to find a shirt. But Dick's sporting goods sounds like the place to start. If not I may order it online from amazon. These common elements will help t...

Production Blog - Laying low

I have not stayed quite on schedule. I must admit that I have taken more time than needed to, to finish my storyboard. The storyboard I believe was time consuming. I felt dreaded with every act. All sixty of them. But I must admit that it made me think. Think about the up close and how every should look. The storyboard is the imaging of the shooting scene. Luckily for me I finished my script first before my storyboard. I realized that I had to add or elongate more scenes. But I was okay with it. It gave the storyboard more life. And I hope it does the same with the actual film.  As the weekend approaches I plan on starting to film this project. Get an idea of everything coming together. I've gotten a bit of a look for the characters. I plan on getting the characters their own jersey and they can wear their own set of bottoms. I just hoe everything falls into place. And I start filming. I can't wait.

Production Blog - Mic check

In my schedule I made the decision to do the commentators parts separate. While doing the commentators acts in each scene shown. For example, in scenes 7-11, 13 and 14. In these scenes they make an appearance. I know where and what they say. I haven't chosen an name for either of them because I feel as if they don't really need it. While they are talking the film will show them exchanging words to each other about the game. As I was recording my bits and pieces for the commentary. I tried to do different accents or deepen my voice a bit. To sound like the part. But then soon remembered that the editing software that I am comfortable with doesn't transfer or use audio recordings. This is a bummer. The editing software: clip champ is great and I would say it's a very reliable software. But with a lot of editing I will be able to almost perfect the commentators talking to each other. I also noticed that when the "crowd" acts come up, I don't have a large cro...

Production Blog - Fonts?

You may be wondering why didn't I start filming first? Why I started with fonts? I choose to do it this way because I felt as if this is a base. Because the font of the title and other titles give the audience a display as to what the film may be about. May give them an introduction of how they will feel at the end of the film. For instance, a movie with delicate, soft and small writing. Seems to be about something emotional or romance. While with big fonts, it presents courage and destruction. Some type of feeling with thrill. I also wanted to check it off the list of what needs to get done. While trying to establish a couple of fonts. I remembered that I wanted to have a font like the font used in the title for 'Mission Impossible'. The Mission Impossible font is great. This font is blocky and I like it. I was messing around with some fonts and I believe that I found a font similar to it called 'Agency FB'. This font will be used in the display of the production...

Planning for Final Task : Title design

For the general title I choose "Now or Never". For this title I tend to do a large font with the title as wide as the screen. I will then use a smaller and different font to show the names of the people that contributed to the film. I will use two different fonts in total. I will like the general title font to be transparent in a way. I will like the font to appear just like the title for 'Mission Impossible'. And I will like the rest of the fonts to be in a bulky white. There will be one and a half space between the line and little to no space between the letters.

Planning for Final Task : Location & Sound etc...

Schedule: During 3/3/21 - 3/8/21, I will begin making fonts to transfer onto the film. Within this time zone I will begin filming scenes 7-10 and others with the commentators.  During 3/10/21 - 3/18/12, I will have finished filming all scenes. During 3/29/21 - 4/8/21, attacking the editing will be my priority. With all the filming coming together and the transitions, with voiceovers and storyboard. It will be a challenge. But I will have it under control. During 4/12/21 - 4/15/21, I will be finalizing this assignment and working on the required reflection questions. I will have it ready and prepped to have submitted to Cambridge for evaluation. Location: I will be filming in an indoor basketball court. If not possible it will be filmed in my backyard.  Participants: Actors Joel Toussaint - JJ Aycha T - Cha cha  Commentator #1 - computerized/ ludnie Commentator # 2- computerized/ ludnie Filming Ludnie Toussaint Joel Toussaint Editing  Ludnie Toussaint  Dir...
