Production Blog - Importance of Editing

In this blog I will be discussing why I think editing is so very important. I believe it is important because it can make or break any film or picture. Editing is to prepare for publication by correcting, condensing, or otherwise modifying it. Editing at its finest can be extraordinary. But little to no editing can question the vision of the director. Just like everything in life,  editing takes practice. For instance, before I took this class I knew nothing about making a film. I knew nothing about editing a film. However, throughout my films I learned how to add in  low angles, high angles, wide shots etc. I learned how to make a certain piece of the film have emphasis. Which means to pop, stand out. With adding these different kind of shots and angles, it brought more looks to the film. I've also learned that editing takes time and detail. For instance, with this film I am editing now, it is taking time to edit in captions. And have everything in the right order. I give props to the editors out there doing it for a living. I am still not the best of the best. But I can work my way around things. With a little practice; I believe I can be alright. If you don't believe editing isn't important. Ask yourself how life would be without it?

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

I am doing a one minute music video to the song You've got a friend in me by Randy Newman. As stated in my introduction this is the theme song to the movie Toy Story. The audience that would be most interested in this commercial are people that enjoy Disney movies. Such as family friendly people, children, young adults, adults, the elderly and everyone in between. When I first watched Toy story, I believe it was in the cafeteria of my elementary school and I loved it. There are many productions for instance Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4. And in each production the song You've got a friend in me is played as a ritual. When people automatically hear this song they usually assume on the spot Toy Story. This is a friendly and comforting number because this song is interpreting that having a friend that is there for you is superior. In the words of Jim's Poetry, "Your friend will help you and guide you through life when there are tough times. That you will be friends no matter w...

Genre Research: Drama

In this PowerPoint, I described the genre drama. I provided everything common about drama in this PowerPoint. Such as lighting, angles, movement, mis-en-scene and sound. Mis-en-scene means placing on stage in French. Which provides costumes, lighting, acting, makeup, props, and setting. In this PowerPoint I did not work alone. I had a partner and we did amazing with this assignment. We also added in our favorite elements of drama and our least favorite. There are examples of some good drama films included. The elements of drama are the plot, theme, characters etc. These make a drama film good. If one of these elements are missing, it could ruin the film of being a drama film. Drama is a complex genre and is my favorite. It can contain comedy, horror, thrill, action etc. I believe it will forever be great. I think it is possible to prove that there is some type of drama in every film. It can be as little as a penny to as big as the statue of liberty. Drama is a dynamic that cannot...
