Creative Critical Reflection - Music Video

  1. Some challenging conventions that I have faced were characters, situations, settings and events. Characters and situations go hand and hand because the character that was a challenge was my baby brother. At times he did not want to cooperate and do his own thing.  So, some scenes took longer than expected. When that happened it made the situations more strenuous. The settings was a challenge also because the original settings for all twelve scenes were outside. But as the days grew the weather grew worse. The day that I was suppose to start filming it was raining. With that happening I had to initiate my backup setting: my living room. I used the first six scenes in my living room. It wasn't what I wanted but it was second best. The events were a challenge also because with changing settings I had to change a few of the interactions in the first six scenes. This music video represents social groups or issues by demonstrating friendship. In this video I wanted to present what friendship looks like and how it looks when both friends are happy and enjoy each others company.
  2. I chose this song because it gives a great story on friendship and being their for each other. It is a classic family friendly movie. It teaches everyone how to stay and be there for your friends. For each Toy Story that is made, this song is played. The audience that would be most interested in this music video are people that enjoy Disney movies. Such as family friendly people, children, young adults, adults, the elderly and everyone in between. This is a friendly and comforting number because this song is interpreting that having a friend that is there for you is superior. In the words of Jim's Poetry, "Your friend will help you and guide you through life when there are tough times. That you will be friends no matter what".
  3. Throughout this project my production skills have had a major develop. This project is my second round at editing. I had no skills in editing and I still believe that I am not so good at it. But with practice over time, I will get better. Up to now I know how to add a voiceover, provide good transitions, operate the speed of each scene etc. When filming at certain angles and having an arrange of different of shots. It makes the editing seem like an improvement. Something that I didn't know how to do before this project was add a song over my video. Mind you I learned how to add a voiceover because the editing app that I used had a built in voiceover. So, when I learned that I had to add the song in a different way it stressed my out. But when I did master it, it felt like an accomplishment. Turns out I had to download the song on my phone, then send it to my email. After, I had to download the song to my computer and transfer it to the editing app I was using. While doing this I learned that I find editing therapeutic.
  4. On this project I used multiple devices to achieve my music video. As stated in my previous answer I had to download the song from YouTube on my phone, then send it to my email. After, I had to download the song to my computer and transfer it to the editing app I was using. With all of these devices being used together to do the same thing, it shows that I integrated different technologies to get one song onto my music video; and it was well worth it.

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

I am doing a one minute music video to the song You've got a friend in me by Randy Newman. As stated in my introduction this is the theme song to the movie Toy Story. The audience that would be most interested in this commercial are people that enjoy Disney movies. Such as family friendly people, children, young adults, adults, the elderly and everyone in between. When I first watched Toy story, I believe it was in the cafeteria of my elementary school and I loved it. There are many productions for instance Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4. And in each production the song You've got a friend in me is played as a ritual. When people automatically hear this song they usually assume on the spot Toy Story. This is a friendly and comforting number because this song is interpreting that having a friend that is there for you is superior. In the words of Jim's Poetry, "Your friend will help you and guide you through life when there are tough times. That you will be friends no matter w...

Genre Research: Drama

In this PowerPoint, I described the genre drama. I provided everything common about drama in this PowerPoint. Such as lighting, angles, movement, mis-en-scene and sound. Mis-en-scene means placing on stage in French. Which provides costumes, lighting, acting, makeup, props, and setting. In this PowerPoint I did not work alone. I had a partner and we did amazing with this assignment. We also added in our favorite elements of drama and our least favorite. There are examples of some good drama films included. The elements of drama are the plot, theme, characters etc. These make a drama film good. If one of these elements are missing, it could ruin the film of being a drama film. Drama is a complex genre and is my favorite. It can contain comedy, horror, thrill, action etc. I believe it will forever be great. I think it is possible to prove that there is some type of drama in every film. It can be as little as a penny to as big as the statue of liberty. Drama is a dynamic that cannot...
