Filming Blog - problems and solutions

The day that I had planned to start filming was November 25, 2020 but in reality I began to start filming on November 30, 2020.  That same day I was able to start and finish filming. This music video was a lot tougher than the commercial. Especially with a cranky one year old.   Before, during and towards the end of filming, it was difficult and problems kept arising. Before filming I had to get consent from the first individual's mother, my aunt. She felt the need to do research about Cambridge before allowing me to use her daughter to be in my film. While I was waiting for an answer days past and I soon realized that I wasn't going to get an answer. So I had to compromise. My little sister replaced my baby cousin as the first individual. This transition was handled and was fine. But it wasn't until I began filming with my actors and camera man in the scenes that were suppose to be taken outside. When it started to rain. This was frustrating but because I had a ba...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

First scene: During this scene the first character will be seen across the screen and it will be my baby cousin. In this scene she will walk down the sidewalk. Second scene: In this scene the second individual, my baby brother will appear to be walking down the same sidewalk as my baby cousin. But it will be seen as if he is walking towards her.  Third scene: In this scene my baby brother and cousin will come together and embrace each other, as if they're hugging. This shot will be shown as a happy, and joyful wide shot. Fourth scene: The scene will still be in the same setting but both individuals will be shown as if they are running after each other. Like a game of tag. Fifth scene: After the joyous scene they will still be in the same setting. But the mood will change. As a result of running to much and to fast, the first individual will come to medium fall. This shot will be shown as a pan tilt running with the children. Sixth scene: In this scene the second individual, ...

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

I am doing a one minute music video to the song You've got a friend in me by Randy Newman. As stated in my introduction this is the theme song to the movie Toy Story. The audience that would be most interested in this commercial are people that enjoy Disney movies. Such as family friendly people, children, young adults, adults, the elderly and everyone in between. When I first watched Toy story, I believe it was in the cafeteria of my elementary school and I loved it. There are many productions for instance Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4. And in each production the song You've got a friend in me is played as a ritual. When people automatically hear this song they usually assume on the spot Toy Story. This is a friendly and comforting number because this song is interpreting that having a friend that is there for you is superior. In the words of Jim's Poetry, "Your friend will help you and guide you through life when there are tough times. That you will be friends no matter w...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Picking a song wasn't easy. It was a long thought process. I had many songs in mind but I couldn't plan a story for them. While thinking of what song to chose, I began to look through my Disney playlist on Spotify. It was a tough choice between songs from Camp Rock, Hannah Montana, The Lion King, and etc. However, the song I chose for my music video project was You've got a friend in me by Randy Newman. You might remember this song from Toy Story. It is a calm and soothing. This song is definitely from Toy Story. It is the theme song for this famous movie. I chose this song because it gives a great story on friendship and being their for each other. It is a classic family friendly movie. It teaches everyone how to stay and be there for your friends. For each Toy Story that is made, this song is played. I also, chose this song because it can provide me a great story with the lyrics. With this project I would have loved to work in a group because I believe that this project d...

Creative Critical Reflection - Aveeno

Some challenging conventions that I have faced were characters, and situations. These two go hand and hand because the character that was a challenge was my baby brother. At times he did not want to cooperate and do his own thing.  So, some scenes took longer than expected. With that being said that made the situations more strenuous. The Aveeno baby daily moisturizing lotion can represent some social groups like babies, mothers of young children, and even adults. It can address issues like skin conditions such as eczema. It can provide a healthy, nourishing layer on the skin. The Aveeno baby daily moisturizing lotion can be persuaded to mothers of babies, toddlers, and young children as a safe alternative lotion that is baby friendly. With the illustration on the cover of the bottle it can be seen as safe and healthy. Throughout this project my production skills have had a major develop. Before this project I had no skills in editing. But now I know how to add a voiceover and...

My Aveeno Baby Lotion Commercial

In this blog I posted my fully finished commercial. This was a major project to work on looking back and rewatching, I believe I did my best on this commercial. It was very entertaining to film and direct. But the thing I would do differently is get a better camera and have better lighting. The lighting in the video was good but it wasn't commercial on T.V. good, and I want that. In this activity I learned how to edit and what comes with filming and editing. I learned the use of important filming words like tilt movement, close up shot, pan movement and etc. Overall, I believe that I did my best and I'm proud.

Editing Blog - Getting things right

After all of my scenes were aligned and in order where they needed to be. I began trimming and cutting the sound in each scene. I cut the sound from each scene because I wanted to add a voiceover in my commercial. But before I added in the voiceover, I cut down each scene in the way I felt was right. For example, in the first scene I cut out the first half. This was done because it eventually made the whole commercial longer then needed. In the second scene, with the movement of an up close tilt at a canted angle. I also slowed down the speed to give a small dramatic effect. After this scene I added a transition. This transition captured the end of scene two and the beginning of scene three. Between the third, fourth, and fifth scene, I didn't do much editing other than trimming the scenes down. Just as the first scene, in the last scene I had to cut out the first halve. It seemed unnecessary to be in the commercial. Although I trimmed the first halve out. In the second halve I s...
