Creative Critical Reflection - Music Video

Some challenging conventions that I have faced were characters, situations, settings and events. Characters and situations go hand and hand because the character that was a challenge was my baby brother. At times he did not want to cooperate and do his own thing.  So, some scenes took longer than expected. When that happened it made the situations more strenuous. The settings was a challenge also because the original settings for all twelve scenes were outside. But as the days grew the weather grew worse. The day that I was suppose to start filming it was raining. With that happening I had to initiate my backup setting: my living room. I used the first six scenes in my living room. It wasn't what I wanted but it was second best. The events were a challenge also because with changing settings I had to change a few of the interactions in the first six scenes. This music video represents social groups or issues by demonstrating friendship. In this video I wanted to present what f...

You've got a friend in me Music Video

In this blog I posted my fully finished music video. This was a major project to work on looking back and rewatching, I believe I did my best on this video. It was very entertaining to film and direct. But the thing I would do differently is get a better camera and have better lighting. The lighting in the video was good but it wasn't music video good, and I want that. In this activity I learned how to edit and what comes with filming and editing. I learned the use of important filming words like tilt movement, close up shot, pan movement and etc. With this music video I tried to present a good friendship between two siblings. And that everyone deserves to have a good friendship at least once in their lifetime. Overall, I believe that I did my best and I'm proud.

Editing Blog - Everything is in place now

After all of my scenes were aligned and in order where they needed to be. I began trimming and cutting the sound in each scene. I cut the sound from each scene. I did this because I wanted to add the song: You've got a friend in me; in the background. But before I did that, I cut down each scene in the way I felt was right. For example, in the first scene I cut out the second half and slowed the speed down. This was done because it eventually made the whole commercial longer then needed and there was some unnecessary parts. In my second scene I  did the same. While I continued to work on the edits I noticed that I wasn't as fond in my indoor scenes as my outdoor scenes. I felt as if the indoor scenes didn't do the video justice. But it will be enough. While I kept editing I added a transition between the scenes that ended the indoor scene and outdoor scene. This gave it a more welcoming transition. I wanted to add in my song for my music video but I didn't know how to. ...

Filming blog - More filming?

In my last blog I stated that I was completely done with filming. Well I was wrong. As I was looking over my few scenes I realized that I could finish up the rest of my scenes by advancing them. I kept all the scenes from my indoor scenes and just added on my newer scenes. These new scenes I believe brings all of the music video together. In my planning I stated that both of my settings were outside. But with the rain and everything that happened. I did six of my scenes inside my house, in my living room. Then I proceeded to do the rest of the six scenes outside, in my yard as intended. With filming these scenes it was a process, but it was fun. My baby brother enjoyed himself and was cooperating well. I believe that with him being outside it made him happy and that made for a better production. While filming it was a process but it was worth it. Everything went as planned. I truly love my production crew. With my baby brother and sister as actors. My other brother as my camera man is ...
